This is a 3 pack of VHS videos released in 1991 that are also available separately. They each have one 25 minute episode, and include some Quest Trivia items at the end of the episode.
br /The eppisodes are - Turu the Terrible, The "Q" Missile Mystery, and Monsters in the Monastery. Those episodes are listed separately here at Amazon so I won't go into them other than to say they are good picks. There have been many different formats for VHS tapes, as they have been released by different parties. This version is from Hanna-Barbera Home video, a later improved version of JQ tapes released in 1996 by Turner Home Entertainment had 2 episodes each and had cleaned up digitally re-mastered images.
br /Some history may be needed here... 40 years ago Hanna Barbara Studio backed the Doug Wilder creation of what had been one of the most memorable cartoons ever, the animated adventure "Jonny Quest". That original 1964 animated series ran in prime time for one season as a 25 minute show on ABC, back when we had only 4 channels to choose from. And when the kids sat down to watch it, dad was quick to join them. The show had something special, a unique style that made kids (and adults) mouths drop open from the opening credits on to the end. The characters were realistic and fleshed out, and the voice actors were very good. They traveled the globe in a futuristic jet to exotic places that were made real in the architecture sounds and cultures described there. The artistic style and color scheme was different than anything on. Creator Doug Wilder brought some of the best elements of action comics and graphic style into the mix. Dr. Quest was the team leader and Jonny's father, and he invented all kinds of gadgets like laser and flying backpacks. The show had action, humor, drama, suspense, and some creepy bad guys. The soundtrack music by Hoyt Curtain featured a cool spy era jazz that really brought all the elements together.

br /A total of 26 episodes were made, which can be purchased in a DVD box set called "Jonny Quest, Season One". A bit of warning from the Jonny Quest fan base, there is some minor PC editing on two episodes in that DVD set, and they used the same credits for all episodes which is inaccurate. Many collectors are hanging onto their original VHS tapes due to the edits, over color saturation on the DVD, and the missing credits. So if you are a completist, you may need to own both VHS and DVD.
